G5 Homeroom Teacher
My name is Susanna Hurtig and I am from Sweden. Having lived, worked and studied in a few countries, my husband and I ended up here in Hong Kong in 2004. I have experience working in several international schools both here and abroad, and feel that I am an internationally minded, lifelong learner as I have now qualified and registered as a teacher in both Hong Kong and Sweden.
I grew up in a bilingual environment but never spoke my mum’s mother tongue at home. As a consequence, when our children were born we decided to stick to “one person-one language”. It is hard work and takes a lot of commitment but is definitely worth it. Do not hesitate to come and talk to me about the importance of mother tongue and languages. This is one of the reasons I became a teacher.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Hiking and outdoor life, visiting museums and reading books, are other things I love to do. I’m feeling excited about being part of HKCA Po Leung Kuk School and am looking forward to learning with your children this coming school year.
