Hi, my name is Nikolay Tomov Demerdzhiev. I was born in Bulgaria and studied at the National Academy of Music “Prof Pancho Vladigerov” where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in viola performance and music education. I studied viola under Christian Euler in Austria and hold two Masters degrees in viola performance and music pedagogy from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. In 2008, I moved to Japan to teach music at the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School in Utsunomiya. In 2014, I returned to Austria where I received my Ph.D. in musicology from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. I am currently a tutti violist of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and the author of several research publications on music education. I have taught as a music teacher, band director and Music Curriculum Coordinator.
